Hello colleagues -- Please have a look at the attached announcement for
a day-long pre-conference, /*Producing Truth to Power*/, to be held May
22, just ahead of the next International Communication Association
conference in Seattle.

You'll see the participants and presenters include a terrific roster of
top scholars and media activists engaged in a range of controversies and
issues. My colleagues Jeff Jones, from the University of Georgia and
Director of the Peabody Awards, and David Craig -- a TV/film producer
with a long list of credits who teaches at the Annenberg School at USC
and is a doctoral student with us at UCLA -- have organized a wonderful
session that really crosses the boundaries between media activism
theory, practice, and pedagogy.

The registration fee for the pre-conference is $75. You can register,
and find more information, at the ICA website:
http://www.icahdq.org/conf/2014/preconferences.asp and
http://www.icahdq.org/conf/index.asp.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with any of us. We
hope to see you there!

Leah
