About Us

This platform is a tool for supporting the ICTs and Society Network, that is, the self-organisation of researchers (as well as institutions they are affiliated with) working in the field of ICTs and Society all over the world.

“ICTs and Society” is a label for comprising scientific efforts in empirical research, theoretical studies, and the social as well as technological design concerning the impacts of ICTs on society and the social shaping of ICTs. Existing fields like Information Science, Information Society Studies, Internet Research, New Media Studies, Relationship between Computers and Society, Social Informatics, Human Computer Interaction, to name but a few, revolve around this field of ICTs and Society. No methodological approach towards ICTS and Society shall be excluded.

The ICTs and Society Network was established in June 2008 with a kickoff meeting organised by Wolfgang Hofkirchner and Christian Fuchs in Salzburg.

The ICTs and Society Network – and this platform – is open to anybody interested. In particular, academic faculty as well as PhD students are welcome.

The platform is hosted and maintained by the Unified Theory of Information Researh Group (UTI) – www.uti.at
