if you are in pre- or postdoc stage and work on a problem that includes systemic ways of approaching the world or transdiscipliary frameworks, you might be interested in the following annotation:

at the emcsr 2014 (european meetings on cybernetics and systems research) we will hold a phd day: : http://emcsr.net/calls-2014/calls-for-papers-2014/phd-colloquium-award/. the fee is 120,00 euros for attending the whole 4-days conference and will be waived if you qualify for the phd colloquium and award competition. the award is 1.000,00 euros. the winner of competition in 2012 was a student from the telecommunications research centre at trinity college, dublin (http://www.bcsss.org/research/grants-and-prizes/ludwig-von-bertalanffy-young-scientist-award/). the deadline for submitting a 3-pages abstract is 14 february 2014.
